Dorothy Salisbury Davis, now in her eighties, is one of the giants of 20th-century crime fiction. In her first new book in many years, she has put together a collection of short stories which are beautiful little masterpieces. My personal favorite, Maggie and Christopher, tells a tale of a magician and his assistant traveling the backroads of the Midwest during the Depression of the 1930's. The writing has the deceptive simplicity that comes from a highly-honed craft.

Man, if anyone is planning on going up to the North Carolina Mountains should first read what the Insiders' have to say about. This book is kinda like your guide around the mountains when you are traveling. The authors know what their talking about because they live there. It's Awesome!!!

i can't imagine not having had this guide on my recent trip. it enhanced the experience immeasurably with tips about what to see and how to see it. this is the best of the insider's guides i've ever read. a necessity on your trip - make sure you pack it and leave out the spare socks!

Institutional Investors is a magnificently written text. The authors do a wonderful job describing issues facing institutional investors (US and globally) each day. They provide a thorough and detailed explanation and analysis of the institutional investment process, from asset management to trading, as well as provide commentary on the ever-changing structure of the financial industry. It is a must have for anyone wishing insight into the institutional investment process!

I'd read and loved "Between the Heartbeats" and wondered if this second anthology of nurses' writing could be as wonderful----and it is! In this collection, the editors have gathered all new work from nurses in the US and abroad (some of the original "Heartbeats" writers are represented here too). The poetry and prose are stunning. This book is a must read for any nurse, physician, patient, caregiver, poet or writer; it's also a perfect teaching text for medical and nursing humanities. If you're stuck for a gift for your favorite nurse, buy this book!

There are two principal reasons to recommend this book. First, it is one of the rare books in approximation theory that covers complex analytic functions. Second, the selection and presentation of the material is unusually clear and full of useful examples. The author balances the level of generality against the usefulness of the result. In other words, he avoids the trap of stating the result in such a high level of generality that the usefulness of the result is completely obscured. Another good book in this area at a slightly higher level of difficulty is "Theory of Approximation" by Achieser. This book is suitable for self study by a graduate student in the first year or a very advanced undergraduate.
